Reading & viewing
Students in grade 4 FI are learning to read in French. Leveled books will be sent home for students to practice the reading skills, such as accuracy, fluency and comprehension. Students will be placed into small groups for instruction depending on which skills they need to master. These groupings are flexible throughout the year.
By November, students are expected to read at levels F-G-H independently with accuracy, fluency and comprehension (answering literal and inferential questions, as well as critical thinking questions). By June, students are expected to read at levels J-K-L independently with fluency and comprehension (answering literal questions, inferential questions and critical thinking).
It is important that students read at home as well as at school in French in order to improve.
